How does electricity get to your home?
Cemig's distribution grid is 443,525 kilometers long, making it the largest in Brazil.
Did you know that electricity goes a long way to get to your home? It is transported through transmission lines and reaches its destination through distribution networks. These networks are made up of poles, cables and transformers which, in turn, bring electricity to homes, industries, hospitals, schools, among other places. Our distribution network is 443,525 kilometers long, which makes it the largest in Brazil.
Power plants that supply electricity to BH (Belo Horizonte)
There is more than one plant to serve the capital of Minas Gerais. Our system is interconnected, as well as that of the South, Southeast and Center-West Regions, which means that all of Cemig’s plants produce energy, and this energy is distributed to all the locations served by the Company.
Cemig also buys 16% of all electricity generated by “Itaipu” power plant. When the Company has surplus energy, it can sell it to other concessionaires of the Southeast-South Interconnected System.
