We have always prioritized the identification of risks and business opportunities, so as to establish the best solutions to decarbonize our operations.

Joining the UN Global Compact’s Net Zero Ambition Program.in 2021 marks a milestone in Cemig’s decarbonization journey. We undertook to reduce 90% of our greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

For some projects, Cemig has conservation units as compensation for the suppression of native vegetation. Those units function as preservation sites for plant species native to the Atlantic Rainforest and Cerrado biomes, in addition to serving as spaces for scientific research, environmental education of nearby communities and havens for wildlife”

CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE ELECTRICITY SECTOR

The world economy is highly dependent on polluting fossil fuels. But this is changing.

The energy sector has been investing heavily on furthering a clean and low-carbon economy, through energy efficiency and renewable energies and technologies designed to reduce net carbon emissions to zero.

Only by undertaking such initiatives can we:
