Since 1998, the continuous efforts of Cemig’s Energy Efficiency Program have been recognized. As a result of this commitment, the Program has already received several awards. Between 1995 and 2009, for example, the company stood out in the Energy Conservation Award, established at the time by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

In 2009, an initiative aimed at modernizing the conventional irrigation system for small farmers in Jaíba, in northern Minas Gerais, won the award.

The initiative in Jaíba proved so innovative and important that, in 2012, the same project received the “Chico Mendes” International Socio-Environmental Award, granted by the Ministry of the Environment and raising Cemig to a level of high relevance in matters related to sustainability.
