“Campos de Luz” Program (Fields of Light)
Program aimed at providing lighting for soccer fields and sports fields.
“Campos de Luz” program (Fields of Light) began in 2005 as a partnership between Cemig and municipal governments. Through the project, Cemig installed lighting systems in amateur soccer pitches or sports courts, whereas city halls were responsible for the maintenance, the energy bill and the safety of facilities. For the municipality to join the program, it must be in compliance with its payments to Cemig,
Since its implementation, the program reached approximately 900 amateur soccer pitches. In “Campos de Luz II” (Light Fields II) Program, there was also the inclusion of multi-sport courts in the project. There were 306 amateur soccer pitches and 50 multisport courts that received lighting systems, aiming to improve the quality of life and social inclusion of underprivileged communities with the practice of sports, leisure and cultural activities, especially at night. These pitches/courts belong to local City Halls and are within Cemig’s concession area.
The investment carried out in the “Campos de Luz II” program was approximately R$ 15 million and was destined to the development of the lighting projects, the purchasing of materials and the implementation of works.
The Program was concluded in December/2019.
